Am I the first to post on Mahsheet’s blog? If so, then Mike’s a fag!Now that that’s out of the way, is Metal still a music genre? There should be a Plastic music genre.Indie music? Oh yes, Yo La Tengo’s new album is coming out in September and with a title “I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass.” You really can’t go wrong. They will be performing at the Filmore on October 20 & 21. A must see! A real sonic experience. They can play any and all styles and they do. Amazing band. Arguably one of the best live shows you’ll ever see. Some people end up leaving the shows early because I suppose they weren’t as shitty as they were expecting.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkyiy9mT-SkThe above is a video of YLT performing one of their new songs. Check it out!Yo La Tengo, one of the best Indie bands of all time!

Dude…let’s go to the Yo La Tengo show so I can see what all the hub bub is about. I thought they broke up on New Years or something?
Hear, Hear . . .YLT at the Fillmore two summers ago was a jaw-dropper. The kind of show where you take a piss only if critically necessary and forget to refill your beer altogether. At the moment, I can’t think of any other band that can put their signature on lilting beautiful lullabyes and discordant rock monsters, and everything in between, all in the same gig, without seeming like they are just genre-hopping. Of course, this just underlines what indie snobs have been saying about eh band for 15 years.

Yo La Tengo is indeed the greatest live band ever. Thanks for the link to the video, Chadd. That’s a cool song, but not a good indicator of what YLT sound like. Of course no single song is because they are all over the map stylistically, but this song is even uncharacteristic for them! Good tune, though. What’s great about them is that they are so varied, and yet you can always tell it’s Yo La Tengo. They are really nice people, too, if you ever get the chance to meet them. Here are some other videos worth checking out. First, one of the funniest videos of all time. YLT+Mr. Show–can’t go wrong. Here it is, “Sugarcube”:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_LkAAzCQrQThis other one is YLT performing live on the deservedly short-lived John McEnroe show about two years ago. They were his “house band” that day, and even let him play guitar at the end with them for a cover of a Ramones song. They have the best taste in covers. They did a blistering version of “Today is the Day” off of Summer Sun. Anyway, here is the link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuIVOrE3F_U
YES.COM (not what you think). Hey, everybody. Just discovered this site that has such a beautiful and simple concept. It shows a map of the U.S. and, in real time, displays the song being played on every major radio station. It is mesmerizing to just sit and watch each song pop up–makes you feel like an air traffic controller for music. You can search for individual stations and see a real-time playlist, top 10, etc. And it actually has college and independent stations, too. Go there now:www.yes.com
BTW- the comment ahat was deleted was a duplicate. No censorship here unless your stupid.
Mike,Let’s get some tickets for Yo La Tengo for the fillmore shows.Paxtejana can go if they want, too, I suppose, although I’m burning up from the desert island comment that fucker made. Yes! If I were on a desert island there would be some artists that I would require their entire catalogue. Paxtejana!!! Damn you!!! Damn!!!!! You!!!! Yourdirty Ape!!!!!But he also likes Yo La Tengo. So that’s messing with me right now.I need another beer.Mike, your blog’s getting confusing.I have to go to the search the blog to find all of the normal topics. You should archive your news stories. Only showcase one news story at a time. When you post the second news story put the last one in the archive so that us bloggers can see all of the topics and not have to search for them.Or are you to gay to do this.Your friend(s),Vernon Reid’s Balls
